Life in Carefree

Cave Creek Balloon Festival

The Cave Creek Balloon Festival is held annually, typically in January each year at the Carefree Resort and Conference Center. Generally the event starts around 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM. The balloon festival is not a balloon race. Instead the participating balloons are tethered after inflating and offer rides until dark.

It's great entertainment for families with kids. Hot air balloons glow with brilliant colors that light-up the evening sky. There is special entertainment for children and the entire family will love the live bands, fireworks and food vendors. Tickets to the festival may be purchased in advance or at the gate. Bring cash for entrance fees, balloon rides, food and special events. Children under 2 are admitted free.

Always hope for good weather. In windy conditions or rain, the balloons will not be launched. There is a parking lot with handicapped parking, but come early because the lot fills up quickly. Parking is also permitted on the street. Pets, lawn chairs, and outside food are not permitted. However, blankets are allowed and be sure to dress in layers since evenings in January can become quite cool.
